It’s much easier to write about other people than to write about yourself! What could you possibly want to know anyway?

Anyway – here goes.

For potted history – read on ……

Born 25th June 1956. Grew up in Harold Wood, Essex. Married at 18 and moved to Manchester. Career in Marketing (mostly at CWS) until birth of daughter in 1982. Moved to North Bucks. Started own marketing business in 1984. Two more children – sons in 1987 and 1989. Business grew and grew. Divorced in 1997. Eventually gave up everything rather than ignore my creative urges any longer and started studying Fine Art full time at UCN, Northampton. Graduated in 2002 with a 2:1 in Fine Art. Quite pleased considering I left school with one ‘O’ level and was studying whilst caring for three children pretty much single handed. In 2003 began a Fine Art MA. Meanwhile had to return to real world to finance home/children/me. Met a lovely, intelligent, kind, interesting man, who introduced me to the joys of motor sport marshalling. Became addicted. Connected artistic activity to motor racing enthusiasm. Many exhibitions later am now launching website onto an unsuspecting world.

What is my ‘inspiration’?

The whole idea of the journey, deciding where to go (so many places – how to decide), planning it (mapping it out), experiencing it, collecting moments and memories, documenting it - coupled with a real appreciation of the moment and the place, has meant that I’ve been totally spoilt for choice when looking for inspirational triggers. Indeed some (lucky) artists concentrate on very specific aspects and build a reputation for both a particular subject and genre. For me the excitement of discovery means I am always detouring – I might be heavily involved in print making only to move to digital photography.

Me At Bournemouth

Then become engrossed in the whole area of paper making then return to the absolute magic of developing and printing black and white photography in my own darkroom (otherwise known as the bathroom!) I just enjoy the diversity and challenge of discovering and exploring what is ‘out there’.
