THE FIFTY PROJECT
There are always moments in life which are 'markers', providing opportunity for reflection, commemoration and action. Becoming 50 during 2006 seemed to me a good source of inspiration. The ideas certainly emerged at a rate, but the difficulty has been finding time to follow any of them through!
Having posted up this idea on my website I received several emails with suggestions (I particularly liked the 'try 50 different types of wine' idea!). However, in some ways the success of this idea was dependent not just on my 'doing' the 50 things, but on my then producing work as a result of it. I confess now - this has been slow to happen. However, with half of the fiftieth year gone, the good news is things are progressing well.
The main development is finding out how to put things on this website myself. This opens up a lot of possibilities - now when I produce something for the 50 project - or have an idea - it can go on here. My Journal will mention when that has happened, and is an opportunity for visitors to the website to contact me.
So the 50 Project kicks off with acquiring a new skill - website management. But it doesn't stop there! I have also been learning calligraphy - practising in my studio and receiving tuition. More on this will follow in the next few weeks as I become more proficient.

Visit 50 cities / towns / villages / rivers (are there 50 rivers) (yes, I know that now but I didn’t till I did the research) – read 50 books / see 50 films / 50 plays / 50 bands playing. Find 50 recipes and cook them. Walk up 50 hills (and down again!). Or do one of 50 things. The possibilities are literally endless.
